A Memory and Thanks to Many

What started as a dedication to Rob's parents during the most recent Gospel Cafe show turned into a Remembrance of those who took part in the D DAY Landings while across Europe a composer called Robert Stolz.He witnessed the beginning of the persecution of the Jews at first hand and those thousands of young men and women who died to rid the world of Nazism saved the lives of many more millions who would otherwise have been taken to the gas chambers.
Rob thanked his parents by playing Wiener Cafe Glazvolle Operette by Robert Stolz. Sadly we can't include that in this podcast.

Power Hour is the belief that applying God's Word - scripture from the bible in prayer that can can does make a huge difference.  Through prayer - talking to God about different issues, Christians gain understanding and wisdom and can deepen faith through action.
In today's edition - Christians, aka Believers need to take on the share of responsibility re Climate Change.  We are told in 
Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.

We are told to Love God with all our heart and our neighbour as ourselves.  How can we love if we do not take seriously the urgency to leave a legacy of a liveable planet to our children and people we do not even know. 
Let's remind ourselves of Genesis 1 and 2.

Bees and Pollinators

Community Element - Bees

Many people are turning to allotments - growing produce for themselves greatly shortening mileage. Rob visited the Slopefield Allotment in Aberdeen this week and reports on his visit.  There is a very real heart to increase the amounts of different pollinators such as bees so it was great to see the allotment holders growing a wide range of flowers and vegetables. Rob reports on work in the apiary at Hazlehead Park including creating new nucleus colonies. Rob is a member of Aberdeen and District Bee Keepers Association and Scottish Beekeepers Association.  
 

Community Element - Tips For Greener Living

In this second Community Element, while reflecting in TV shows such as BLUE PLANET LIVE and Steve Backshaw's programmes Undiscovered Worlds about the diminishing Greenland Ice Sheet, we could do more ourselves to make a difference in the Environment.  
If we all play our full part, just may be we can stem the real threat of Climate Change and leave a better legacy for the future.

Shetland ponies from Therapy Ponies Scotland have been making a positive impression with elderly residents at the Grove Care Home in Kemnay.  Animal therapy has been shown to reduce stress and improve motor skills.  
A Don's mad football fan who has been fighting Alzheimers disease was featured in a poignant video which has already gained more than 25,000 views.  The video was made through Football Memories set up by Aberdeen Football Club Community Trust and Alzheimers Scotland.
Children at Kittybrewster School have teamed up with residents of Clifton Court to turn a grey coloured electricity sub station into a multi coloured 3 D mural with the help of an International Artist.  The project was funded through Aberdeen City Council's Participatory Project known as UDECIDE. The pupils have been visiting the residents at the Clifton Court Sheltered Housing complex to give teaching on digital skills.
A trishaw at Balmedie House Care Home has allowed residents to get fresh air, exercise, explore and make happy memories. Two 95 year old twins have really benefitted.  The trishaw has been made possible through a partnership between Balmedie, Belhelvie Church of Scotland and Cycling without Age Scotland.

Your Gospel in Hebrew

We celebrate the recording of John 3:16 – in  Hebrew.  Many thanks to Gary from Aberdeen Christian Fellowship and his friends in Israel for this. John 3:16 is the Gospel in a nutshell and simply tells of Christ’s Love for all such that whoever accepts Christ Jesus as Lord and Saviour has Everlasting Life and a rich relationship with a Loving God.
Our role is to make Christ relevant to all through speaking and demonstration so that all can hear, see and experience the Gospel.  
One of the ways we do this is through making this scripture available in different languages.
